What is an X-Card and how do I use it?

An X-Card is a tabletop safety tool. It helps players stop or skip any content that makes them uncomfortable during a game. What it is: A physical card (or symbol) with a large "X" on it, placed at the table. How to use it: During play, any player can touch, raise, or point to the X-Card. The GM or storyteller immediately removes, rewinds, or fades out the scene. No one asks "why." The group just pivots and continues. The X-Card is used to: - Keep the table psychologically safe. - Encourage open participation without fear of awkward or distressing moments. - Support consent and respect in emotionally intense stories.
